Trailer: “Gallants”

If you’re a fan of Shaw Brothers‘ kung fu cinema of the 1970’s (just like me), you should check out this upcoming HK flick, Gallants.

Shaw-style plot.

Shaw-style moves.

Shaw-style cinematography.

Shaw-style musical score.

And featuring Shaw Brothers staple Chen Kuan-Tai.

Oh, and rapper/former Ruff Ryders signee Jin appears here as well.

I gotta see this when it comes out.

DJ Premier & Pete Rock interview (Video)

With the ruckus currently brought about by new-age hip-hop, it’s kind of amazing and refreshing to get to see two of the most influential rap producers ever. DJ Premier and Peter Rock, touring together for the very first time, shared their thoughts on quite a few subjects: the 90’s, their supposed rivalry during their heyday, the continuing evolution of hip-hop beats, their West Coast counterparts (Dr. Dre, Kurupt, etc.), and of course, the demise of Primo’s partner-in-crime, Guru.

Insightful vid for all you hip-hop heads.

“Some people make beats. We produce.” – DJ Premier.

NBA Finals: Team LA

15 titles, the last one in 2009. 8 MVP awards between 4 Lakers (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant). The only squad to win 33 consecutive games in one season. Responsible for one of the most lopsided trades ever (see: Pau Gasol). Last year’s champs, ready to repeat in 2010.

The Lakers will open the 2010 NBA Finals at home in Los Angeles on Friday, June 4 (Manila time).
