CSB Blazers 64, UPHSD Altas 63

Some notes from the game:

Starting center Robbie Mañalac didn’t play. He is recovering from a broken nose which he suffered during the game against San Beda. He is expected to be out again on Monday vs EAC.

Coach Richard del Rosario‘s starting line-up: Jelo Montecastro, Jeff MorialIllie Johnston, Aaron Umlas and Jacob Manlapaz.

Chuck Dalanon played very limited minutes. His offense was missed once again, but he was also a liability on defense, especially when sprinting in transition D.

Perpetual’s leading scorer, Chris Elopre, was held to just 4 points.

Illie’s fastbreak jam in the 4th quarter was the frst dunk shot of CSB this season.

The score was stuck at 50-45 for almost six minutes in the third, until Aaron made a putback off Illie’s miss at the buzzer.

Three pointers made: UPHSD = 7 CSB = 0

“We won the game, but it feels like a loss” – Coach Richard told the players after the game.

Practice for the Blazers starts immediately. As in later today, as well as on Sunday.  No rests for the team right now. If the Blazers are to make noise this season, they must do very well against EAC and AU. Both are dangerous teams, and both also have a considerable number of outside shooters and big men. If they would be able to squeak past these teams, then they can definitely can go for an upset vs JRU. Of course, one game at a time lang.
